I collaborated with The Sourcing Factory to put together a fun-sized lettering activity during the roaring Gin Festival, organised by Food Talk India in September in Delhi. In the middle of a secret, invite-only Sunday brunch at the gorgeous Grammar Room (and before the gin started flowing), brunch-ers got a quick crash course in using brush pens.
It was a special feeling to be invited back to my old college, National Institute of Fashion Technology, six years later. The workshop was for third semester students of my old department, Fashion Communication, as part of their Letterforms module. It spanned two days and was a wholly fulfilling experience.
My second workshop of the year happened on 29 April, this time at the newly-opened Agenc Colab studio. It was a bright and open space in Delhi, perfect for zoning out and getting lost in calligraphy. We learned to use brush pens and did an almost crash-course in modern calligraphy. I finally managed to put together some comprehensive workbooks for use at the workshops and the students loved them.
Over the years I have managed to carefully calibrate my Instagram feed to provide me the best of the calligraphy inspiration out there. These are artists whose work I personally look at a lot. Each of them has a personal style with some unique elements.

I talked to the Better Homes & Gardens magazine recently about how to start a Bullet Journal in 2018 for their DIY section. It was quite a fun experience. I made some fresh bujo (short for bullet journal) layouts in a blank grid notebook. And we had a shoot at my home-studio. I even (very) awkwardly posed for a portrait.
Here are my best picks for modern calligraphy ideas to try in 2018, specially for beginners. Some have an interesting style or tools to be used, some are part of recent lettering trends, each can help you bring a new shine to your lettering.
