It was a special feeling to be invited back to my old college, National Institute of Fashion Technology, six years later. The workshop was for third semester students of my old department, Fashion Communication, as part of their Letterforms module. It spanned two days and was a wholly fulfilling experience for me. Made particularly special by the enthusiasm I saw in the students. Even though it took a little getting used to for me to be considered a teacher in the rooms where I was a student what seems like only yesterday.
The lesson covered brush lettering and modern calligraphy using both brush pens and brush-and-inks. We concluded with instruction on composition and a final artwork that counted towards the students’ grade.
