Hi! I'm Juhi and this is my home studio in Delhi.
The Scratchy Nib is my hobby turned passion turned part-time business.

I am an independent digital Product Designer by day and Calligrapher by night. Along with lettering, I love working with paper, journaling, creating mail art, and collecting stationery. My workspace is generally over-run with washi tapes and stamps. I enjoy cappuccinos, cosmology, science-fiction, and sleeping till noon.

A spread from my planner. I love using my Traveler's Notebook for both planning and journaling.

My story

I first started doing calligraphy at 15. Begged my parents to get me a kids' calligraphy book I saw at a fair; read through it in a day, but living in a very small town, couldn't find any calligraphy tools to start practicing with.

So my mother made me my first reed quill and together with a flat-edged highlighter, I learned italics, became obsessed, and successfully shaved off at least 2 percentages off my Xth-standard board exams that year.

For the next decade, calligraphy remained a small hobby albeit a good advantage to have in a design career.

Over a year ago, I became obsessed again when a friend gifted me a brush pen. And this time, being a freelancer working from home, I was able to spend night after joyful night chasing after beautiful letterforms in peace.

Now I am trying to take this passion a step forward and turning it into a part-time profession and by sharing my skills with others.

The first time I tried a brush pen, and a year later with the same pen.
